ABOUT ME
HI, I'M MELISSA, BUT YOU CAN CALL ME MISSY.
Everyone does and it's been that way since I can remember. Not to mention everyone tells me that I look like a 'Missy' and not a 'Melissa'. I just assume it has to do with my humorous, spunky, and sometimes sassy personality.
I LEFT MY SECURE job, PICKED UP MY CANON, AND DECIDED THIS WOULD BE MY YEAR.
I'm a photography graduate from Seattle, but until this year, I spent the past 10 years of my life building a marketing career at large companies and organizations all over the nation while moonlighting my craft on the side. I love marketing and will never stop learning about the art of a good marketing campaign, buuut at this wonderful age of what I like to call "thirty-tworiffic", I've decided that it's now or never for me to change paths and finish what I started over 10 years ago. So here I am…a little scared to be out on my own, but also very excited to be here.
I'm a Natural light lifestyle photographer who describes my photography style as being fun, personal and editorial.
My job is to tell the stories about people's lives through my work. I aim to capture the authentic moments of my clients, in real-life events enjoying life as it currently is . This means less posed shots and more candid moments of you just having fun and being you. I like to use natural light for the majority of my work, meaning I prefer to stay away from flash and love using mother nature and the movement of the sun to help illuminate my photos.
I'm also a wife, fur mama, coffee lover and beach vacationer.
I'm married to an amazing man who always gives his 110% when it comes to taking care of us, keeps me grounded, and was my numero uno supporter when I made the big decision to finally get this show on the road. His name is James, but you can call him Jimmy. We are a nickname kind of couple and he is my BEST. FRIEND. We try to live a simple, happy and adventurous life with our fur baby, Suki the Lharkie #sukithelharkie (Lhasa Apso/Yorkie mix). On the weekly, you'll find us on our Saturday morning coffee date because I love talking about the future while getting charged up with caffeine. On the yearly, you'll find us at a beach vacationing because beach bumming is our thang.
Life is not always perfect, but it's incredibly beautiful.
I know I have a lot of life ahead of me, but I've already learned how lovely life is. My favorite saying is, "Collect moments, not things." -Aarti Khurana.
