This family. Seriously such a beautiful family. And they’ll be adding another beautiful face soon!
Norella, Luis, and their son Matias (20mo at the time of this shoot) will be welcoming baby Mila into their lives towards the end of the month and I couldn’t be more excited for them. Especially because I am lucky enough to be able to call them my friends and neighbors! I met up with the lovely trio on a pretty sunny morning in June over at Tambark Creek Park in Bothell, WA, which is within walking distance from our houses. Norella looked stunning as always and was about 29 weeks pregnant when we scheduled her shoot, which was perfect. -I’ve found this sweet spot with the baby bump being just the right size for pics between 25-30 weeks along.
We made the this shoot simple by utilizing two wooded areas of the park. One area with a natural walking trail where we did some solo shots of Norella and her perfect bump and another area with a beautiful wood bridge where we focused on the family shots. I like to call this technique one spot many shots…or in this case maybe two spots lots of shots? I think that a lot of people feel like a location needs to offer several backgrounds in order to have variety for their portraits, when really it’s the poses, expression, emotion captured that make up the variety.
During our shoot, it was caterpillar season with quite a few little fuzzy guys crawling around. Matias was excited about them as one of his favorite books at the time was the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar. He named all of the caterpillars we saw that day “Bob”. So dang cute. Btw, that hat…isn’t it adorable? Makes him look like a little man!
I’m so glad I was able to spend time with them and help capture some precious last moments of them as a family of three. Cheers to them as they become a family of four. I can’t wait to see if their precious girl has the matching set of dimples to Matias’!
Fun fact: Norella and I were actually pregnant together with our sons who are born 10 days apart. It was so special to have a pregnancy buddy then. Maybe we can endure pregnancy together on her third time around.😉
